SPOKES VOL L, NO 45 MAY 31, 2005

Our Greeter today was Tom Ruesink and unfortunately he only had 24 members to greet. We need you to be with us on a regular basis. The Rotary rules require 60 % attendance average as a minimum. Are you doing your part? Jim Davis gave a heart felt Invocation. Karl was our Song Leader this morning. Tom Ruesink was the Sergeant at Arms. Tom ran the 50/50 and the pot went to Mark Young he corralled the elusive “4” hog tied it and rode away into the sunset with well in excess of $ 120. Congratulations Mark.

President Steve discussed the following:

· Korky asked everyone to sign up for the Pancake Breakfast work schedule.

· The Board Meeting last week approved the following: $ 5000 match for Listiak Fly Centennial Project, $ 450 for SH Concert Series, $ 250 for Light up the Lake, Paid dues to Maritime Museum, $ 350 to Garden Club for Bench with Rotary Plaque.

· Karl announced spouse’s night will be June 27th at the South Haven Yacht Club, please sign up next week. New officers will be installed. Bob Boerma will provide the music. It should be a fun filled evening with good food, cold drinks and outstanding camaraderie.

· John Harding said the web site is up and running. We are now linked to the RI, Visitor Bureau, and Chamber of Commerce web sites. He and Korky will be loading other things to the site in coming weeks.

· Jim Davis is inviting all Rotarians to Lois and his 50th Anniversary June 11th from 1-4 PM at the United Methodist Church. CONGRATULATION LOIS AND JIM!

· Steve is looking forward to a month long visit by his Mother in Law from Lithuania. Steve speaks no Lithuanian and she speaks no English. Should be a quiet month at the Goforth home.

· Ruth Newtson resigned from the Club. She is selling her home and moving.

The Program was by John Kessler on Tax and Estate Planning and he was introduced by Glenn Pietenpol. John is VP Trust Officer at Chemical Bank Shoreline in St Joe. John is also a lawyer. John attended University of Miami Ohio and got his Law degree from Ohio State. Attached is a list of Seminars offered by the bank. If you are interested contact them directly. Due to the short time available John gave us many things to think about. He stressed the need to have a pour over will and living trust to make sure your assets pass to those you specify with the least amount of difficulty and at the lowest tax burden. The slides John discussed are also attached. If you need clarification please feel free to contact John in St Joe. 1 800 808 5404. All of us should contact John or another planner to make sure our estate will go to those we specify rather than let them be disbursed by the Michigan Court System. We thank John for this thought provoking presentation.

Next weeks Program is being presented by Steve Go Forth. The Greeters are Matt Petter and Jay Marcoux.

Remember to sell raffle tickets for Tommy the Tug Boat. Sign up for the Pancake fund raisers and also the Spouses Night June 27th.
